Car Sickness Cures

Traveling with kids can be fun, stressful and a bit messy if your little ones suffer from car sickness. Road trips when I was younger were horrible as I suffered pretty badly from car sickness. Sometimes we would be in the car for only 15 minutes when my little faced turned green and those fearful words poured out "I think I'm going to be sick". Travel sickness can happen at any age but it is more prevalent for children aged 4-12 years.

Here's a list of things that you can do to minimise car sickness.

 1. Keep the car cool.

 2. Ask your child to face forwards and look out the front window. The middle seat is the best.

 3. Avoid reading or playing games such as Nintendo DS.

 4. Avoid fatty and sweet foods before or during the car trip.

 5. Drink lots of water. This will also create more "comfort" stops.

 6. Where possible, avoid winding roads.

 7. Open the windows to let in fresh air.

 8. Drive smoothly. Heavy braking and acceleration can increase the likelihood of car sickness.
