Carpark Hit and Run Rant
Most of us at some point have returned to our car to see that someone has touched, scraped, hit or smashed it and have decided not to let you know. I was in Manly last month, parked in a quiet side street (yes, that it possible in Many) while I ran in and grabbed my morning caffeine hit. I was gone for about 4 minutes, which is not long, but certainly long enough for someone to reverse into my car, bend my number plate and scratch my front bumper. I'm convinced that the culprit was completely aware of their indiscretion but chose to carry on their merry way. Now I know accidents do happen and the driver didn't intentionally hit my car, but even a "sorry" note with no other details would have been OK in my books. Just an acknowledgement of what they did and a simple apology!
If we weren't all in such a rush then maybe these things wouldn't happen. Or is it not about being squeezed for time and more about lack of skill? I would suggest both. Have a look at the following video to see what I mean. And if you do accidently hit someone and they're not around, just a simple note on the windscreen that says "sorry". It won't fix the car but it might contribute to fixing community spirit.
