Reduce Your Fuel Bill Without Buying a Fuel Efficient Car

Most of us are keen to find ways to reduce our bills. Whether it's a grocery or fuel bill, every dollar saved is good news. There are plenty of new cars you can buy today that have great fuel consumption and reduced emissions. But if you can't afford to buy a new car to take advantage of a lower fuel bill, then I've got some good news. Hankook have just launched a tyre called Enfren. By popping these tyres onto your existing car, regardless of age and model, you can reduce your fuel bill by up to 5%.

How?
The Enfren tyre is what's called a low rolling resistance tyre. This means that it rolls more smoothly. Because of this smoother rolling, the car uses less fuel to move it.

Prove It!
Hankook recently conducted a fuel economy challenge from Sydney to Goulbourn and return. Two identical Hyundai i30 diesels were used, one with a set of Enfren tyre and one with conventional radial tyres. The challenge was observed and the results verified by officials from Sydney's North Shore Sporting Club. It was co-ordinated by motoring journalist and industry engineering consultant John Cadogan who ensured that both cars were tested under tightly controlled conditions.
"A 5.1 % advantage is a significant saving that can be achieved by any car owner simply by fitting lower rolling resistance tyres" said John

Is Performance Affected?
I couldn't tell the difference in ride and handling when I compared the Enfren tyres to others. John Cadogan concurs. "The Hankook Enfren tyres were uncompromised in terms of ride and handling, offering comparable levels of road handling, comfort, ion centre feel, and braking performance to compared to conventional premium tyres" said John.

Less Is More
With a reduction in fuel consumption, there is also a reduction in emissions. If every car in Australia was fitted with tyres such as Hankook's Enfren it would save almost one billion litres of petrol every year not to mention reduce greenhouse gas emission by around two million tonnes.
