All you need to know about your Car Insurance
Car Insurance
Car insurance protects you and your car in the event of an accident or it being stolen. There are 2 different types of car insurance. A CTP Green Slip is compulsory while Comprehensive insurance is optional.
CTP Green Slip (Compulsory Third Party)
A CTP Green Slip is a requirement for every registered motor vehicle in Australia. It protects you from legal liability for personal injury to any other party in the event of a personal injury claim. It does not cover any property damage.
Comprehensive Insurance
Comprehensive insurance covers your car for accidental damage, theft and fire, as well as for damage you may cause to someone else's car or property. (Cover can vary from insurer to insurer so make sure you check exactly what it does and doesn't include).
Bargain Hunt
Shop around for the best deal - there are so many companies out there, it is worth taking the time to get the best value for your money. Go for reliable companies that make you feel at home when you call them to inquire about policy options.
Other ways to save
Some companies give you the opportunity to combine your cover and save. For instance, get your CTP Green slip and comprehensive together at the same place for a chance to save money. Also check your ‘No Claim Discount/Rating' to see if you qualify for a discount based on your driving history, your age, how many years you have been driving and so on.
