Hybrid Electric Car. Chevy Volt

A car that produces no harmful emissions. Is the new Chevy Volt set to be the greenest car of all?

The good news. A car with zero harmful emissions! The Chevy Volt (to be badged a Holden) is a hybrid electric car, but has the ability to operate as a fully electric car.  With a battery life that delivers a 60km range, for many this makes the Volt a real option as an everyday car. The beauty of the Volt is you will be able to plug it into your normal power source to recharge the batteries. It gets better - the Volts onboard combustion engine also means you can recharge the battery on the go if necessary – but this does use petrol. A flat battery can be recharged in three hours.

The bad news. You’re going to have to wait. It’s scheduled to be on sale in Australia in 2012 and prices rumoured to be under $35,000, the Volt is set to change the face of hybrids – in terms of both style and functionality. Can it be true, an affordable hybrid that delivers zero emissions and looks cool?
